Bassin Louise counterweighbridge refurbishment

As part of the Bassin Louise counterweighbridge refurbishment project, the Association Portuaire de Québec (APQ) mandated GENIFAB to act as the main engineering firm, including project management.

GENIFAB’S RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete inspection of bridge mechanics, electrical system and structure;
• Complete survey of the foundations, the tower, the mechanics and the pivots;
• Detailed inspection of gears;
• Characterization of the concrete under the tower support structure and mechanics;
• Assessment of the bearing capacity of the bridge;
• Assessment of bridge design loads;
• Study of the modifications necessary to make the bridge compliant with modern standards (wind, earthquake);
• Enginneering related to the modification of the current mechanics and replacement of the transmission shafts for direct motorization on each rack on both sides of the bridge;
• Enginneering related to the modification of the control and power system;
• Enginneering related to the modification/repair of the support tower base;
• Enginneering related to the modification to the bridge locking and cornering system;
• Issuing of technical specifications and drawings for quotation purposes;
• Supervision of subcontractors during the execution of the works at the site.
